Tomorrow is July 1,2015 so its time to talk tackle.
I use 10lb test line most of the time, but what i really enjoy is using a ultra light rod and reel, 6lb test line and fish the edges of the weeds with topwater lures. You can't just horse the fish out it takes time and patience. If your going to fire any topwater or subsurface lure back into heavy cover (or as a friend says "back into the lils") then you need 10lb test at least.
And then be ready to go get at least some of the fish because they will get down deep in the cabbage. Its also recommended to have a lip n grip handy and a set of long needle nose pliers. I don't use wire leaders all the time, but it is highly recommended.
I have included a picture of my favorite lures, some are homemade modified, while others are store bought. One of my secret weapons is the dollarama flat fish, thats right the dollar store. Its the yellow odd shaped lure. It has a very aggressive wobble. But it is not weedless. That's it for now, I hope to have some fresh pictures soon. These are my favorites, what are yours?
